On August 9th 2004 lightning struck one of the large white pine trees beside the gift shop. The strike blew the transformer on the electric pole 100 yards from the building. It also took out 3 computers, phones, microwave, fence chargers, and numerous other electrical items. It blew a hole in the roof and some of the soffit off and blew an outside electrical plug right off the building. Luckily no one was hurt. My wife was inside at the cash register only about 6 feet from the tree. She took the rest of the day off. Here are a couple of pictures.
